Traditional Japanese inns, as the name suggests, embrace tradition in every aspect. The rooms are refreshingly simple, featuring futon-style Japanese beds. Our guests, spanning various ages and abilities, have reported no significant challenges when it comes to getting in and out of bed. In fact, many find that they enjoy a remarkably peaceful night’s sleep. However, if you have any concerns or preferences, please feel free to inquire about alternative accommodations.
While there are no en-suite facilities, all bathrooms are equipped with locks, ensuring your privacy. Facilities include showers and a where possible a traditional Japanese bath, perfect for unwinding before bedtime. The toilets cater to both Western and Japanese preferences.
Our Western-style toilets offer heated seats and bidet functions. Additional amenities usually include a washing machine, dryer, hairdryer, iron, and ironing board.
Where possible we find hotels with a communal kitchen that is well-equipped with everything you might need, from a cooker and microwave to a toaster and fridge. We provide a light breakfast each morning, featuring toast, jams, marmalade, honey, and cereals.
Given our proximity to shops, many of our guests choose to bring back evening meals to enjoy at the inn. Tea and coffee are readily available 24 hours a day. For an authentic experience, Japanese inns truly embody the essence of Kyoto!
Before your stay, we will provide you with a list of recommended dining establishments within a ten-minute walk of the hotel.
We offer a limited number of rooms with no single supplement, and we even have incentives for sharing – please don’t hesitate to inquire about our current offers.
For those who prefer Western-style accommodations, we can easily arrange a reservation when booked well in advance. This service is now available on all our tours. Hotel prices are provided on the day of application and may be subject to change upon final booking. Rest assured; we will promptly inform you of any changes exceeding £5 per person per night. Our goal is to secure accommodations within a short walking distance of our daily meeting point.
It’s important to note that Western hotel rooms do incur an additional cost, as they are significantly more expensive than our standard accommodations. You can anticipate an additional fee ranging between £45 and £80 per night per person, with a slight reduction for shared rooms. If you prefer Western-style lodging, complete with Western beds and en-suite facilities, please inform us as soon as possible. Once these rooms are booked, payment is required within 24 hours, and refunds can only be issued if we are able to obtain one ourselves.
